Closing

It was bound to happen. I haven’t updated in a while simply because I lack time. I did enjoy keeping an anime blog for the short life it did have. I’ve always wanted one, and if I ever have the time (or simply, the time management) to have another one, I know of a few improvements I could do to make the blog better. In about a month the blog will no longer be accessible.

New Series, Movies, and Release Dates

Cartoon Network will be airing the Blue Dragon anime some time this spring. The Anime News Network has not posted a specific date yet.

Ernie Hudson has been casted for the Dragonball live-action movie, however what he character he will be playing has not been listed. Also, there is news of a Trigun movie. It is planned to be released in 2009. The promotional cover wrapper on the final installment of the Trigun Maximum manga suggests that the movie’s story will be about “Vash vs. Wolfwood”. Hopefully they’ll do the manga justice, but more importantly, they do the anime justice.

If you’ve been wondering why a certain DVD hasn’t been shipped in stores yet, that’s because ADV had delayed several titles. They have just released new dates:

Coyote Ragtime Show 1-3

How long has it been since I’ve written my first impression of an anime, let alone an anime review? Don’t tell me. It’s probably best if I don’t know, because I love to procrastinate. Anyways, I’ve read a few articles on Coyote Ragtime Show. The only thing I knew about it prior to watching the series was it was ADV’s pride and joy and that there were a lot of girls wearing gothic lolita clothing. However, after watching three episodes, it feels like I’m watching some sort of weird variation of Cowboy Bebop. Read the rest of this entry »

Akira to be Live-Action Movie

While doing my not-so-daily blog rounds, I noticed that the talk of the web seems to be the Akira live-action movie. Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to produce the live action movie. Thus far they don’t have a cast, but I did see a rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio might be casted for the part of Kaneda. If you have no idea who Kaneda is, don’t worry, I don’t have a clue either. In fact, Akira is probably one of the few classic anime movies I haven’t seen yet. If you don’t know who Leonardo DiCaprio is, well, watch Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio is however going to be one of the producers.

There will be two movies planned. The first one will be about the first three volumes of the manga, and the second one will be about the last three volumes. Thus far, there are plans for a summer 2009 release.

In other news, Randall Duk Kim will play Grandpa Gohan in the Dragonball movie. I’m surprised that I haven’t seen any news on a Krillin yet…

Bakugan to Air on Cartoon Network

Bakugan Battle Brawlers or just plain old, Bakugan will be airing on Cartoon Network on Sunday, February 25 at 9:00 p.m. I’m not really sure what it’s about, but I did read a summary. Looks like it’s an anime with a main plot that revolves around a card game. Is anyone else having sudden flashbacks of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Duel Masters?

In other news, FUNimation is trying to acquire a bit of Geneon’s library. Someone needs to pick up their titles; Geneon had a lot of great anime that they still haven’t finished.
