Eriol didn't make his debut until the end of the second season. He's a transfer student from England, and acts like a true gentleman toward Sakura. He appears to be a kind student around everyone, but acts suspiciously during the show.
Eriol is half the reincarnation of Clow Reed, the other half is Fujitaka. He seems to balance Sakura's magic by being "darker". Like Sakura, he has two guardians of his own: Ruby Moon and Spinel Sun. He even has his own key staff. During his stay in Tomoeda, he lives in Clow Reed's old mansion, which becomes demolished in the second movie.

Unlike Eriol, Eli made his debut in the beginning of the second season. This is because the dub didn't have three seasons.
