Watch out, there's a lion inside this "stuffed animal". Kero is the guardian of the Clow book's seal. His symbol is the sun, and despite looks, he can transform into a ferocious looking lion with white wings. Kero looks the way he does for most of season one because the Clow Cards escaped. Only when Sakura captures the Fiery and Earthy, is he able to transform into his true form (he can also revert when he wants).
Most of the time, Kero just hangs out in Sakura's bedroom and plays video games. He insists that by playing video games, he's honing his skills for when he transforms. Other times, he's eating, sleeping in his makeshift room in one of Sakura's drawers, or pretending to be a stuffed animal.
Kero is quite loyal to Sakura, and helps her whenever he can. He often gives them information on any Clow Card, and information on how to capture it. He's supportive of anything Sakura does, and quite egotistical for a little guy. He isn't shy about being in the spotlight, often telling Tomoyo to catch his good side, and yet constantly hides from others who don't know Sakura's secret by pretending to be a stuffed animal. Despite appearances, Kero really does have the heart of a lion!
CardCaptors Differences
For the most part, Kero is the same. The only difference I spotted was in the movie, Kero states that he was originally from Hong Kong. Yet, in CCS, where Kero originally comes from is a total mystery, although you can guess he comes from somewhere north due to his Osaka accent. (Osaka is in northeren Japan.)
