Sakura Kinomoto is the main character. When she first started capturing the cards, she had no clue what she was doing. As the story unfolded, however, she started to prove that she was capable of doing the job.
Although she's cheery, don't let that optimistic facade fool you. She can be fairly competitive, especially with Syaoran in the beginning. Sakura does seem to be graceful with the way she handles her staff, but that ability comes from her active participation in the cheerleading squad. Her falls and other little accidents definitely prove that she does have a klutzy side. She's extremely naive and gullible, which is proven time and time again when she falls for another one of Takeshi's stories. Every hero needs a weakness, and Sakura's is ghosts. This fear, or weakness, comes from her older brother, Touya, telling her ghost stories when she was younger.
Sakura lives happily with her older brother, Kero, and her father, Fujitaka. Sakura's mother, Nadeshiko. She can be seen telling a picture of her mother good morning from time to time as if she were still alive.
CardCaptors Differences
This version never showed Sakura's mother except in ghost form. Any and all scenes that involved Sakura telling her mother good morning was cut out, and the viewers never knew what Sakura's mother looked like. The dub, did however mention that she did indeed die when Sakura was three.
