Syaoran and Meiling
Meiling unconditionally loves Syaoran and would do anything to protect him. In the beginning, she constantly obsesses over him because she's afraid of losing him. Syaoran, on the other hand, loves her, but not like how she would want. The two are cousins after all. Because she has no powers and is therefore vulnerable, Syaoran always has a special eye out for her.
The two are engaged to be married, which is another reason why Meiling is constantly obsessing over Syaoran. Back when the two were no older than three, Meiling would train with Syaoran. One day she lost her bird and cried over it. Though the two never really had any contact before, Syaoran heard this and went out to find it, even when it began to rain. He came back, soaked, but he found Meiling's bird. Overjoyed, and totally in love, she went back to him the next day and demanded the two be engaged. More out of fear than anything, Syaoran agreed and was rewarded with a huge hug.
Whether this qualified as a proper engagement or not, the two both took it as that. When Syaoran fell in love with Sakura, and had to tell Meiling of it, he was hesitant. He knew it would break her heart, but he also knew she had to be the first to know before he even went to tell Sakura. Though it did shatter her heart, she knew deep down that Syaoran never really loved her the way she loved him. Realizing this, she let him go and later tried to bring Syaoran and Sakura together.
CardCaptors Differences
In the dub version, Meiling is seen with having a huge crush on Syaoran. It was said that the two were engaged, but any relations between the two were removed. Instead, Meiling became the daughter of a close friend to the Showrons.
