Chapter 006: Inverted-Hair Yura

Out in the open, Kagome stands naked in the middle of a lake, shivering in the wind. Kaede tells her to stop being so unreasonable and to come on out. Instead of listening to reason, Kagome tells her that she won't come out because she can't stand being covered in mud and blood.

InuYasha hears the men in the village muttering about Kagome taking a purification ceremony. One man says that he heard divine retribution will be visited to any man that tries to peek.

As she swims through the lake, Kagome thinks back to when Kaede tells the two that they must combine their powers to return the Shikon no Tama back to normal. Coming out of the water, she notices InuYasha watching her and in anger, she yells 'Sit!' He falls back, having forgotten all about the beads that Kaede had placed on him. Hiding behind a bush, Kagome accuses InuYasha of trying to peep at her, but Kaede guesses right when she says he's only there to try to steal the jewel fragment. As Kagome is getting dressed, Kaede tells InuYasha that he has join his power with Kagome's ability. InuYasha agrees that he'll join up with the 'disgusting' girl for the jewel's sake. Overhearing what he said, Kagome comes out dressed like a priestess, asking him if he hates her that much. InuYasha says nothing, instead staring at her because now she looks more like Kikyo than ever before. Kaede, not realizing the effect it has on him, questions his long face but is stopped when a village woman comes for Kaede's aid because the village woman's daughter suddenly collapsed. Leaving the two, Kaede tells them to try not to fight.

As Kagome places her school outfit near a fire to get them dry after cleaning them, InuYasha tells her to take off the clothes she has on, resulting in getting hit by a rock in the head. InuYasha quickly explains that he wanted her to get into her other clothes. Kagome questions if it's because she looks like Kikyo in these clothes, but InuYasha stubbornly tells her that it's not her business what he thinks. Seeing his childish behaviour Kagome tells him that the two of them possibly can't work together, which suits InuYasha fine. Hearing that, Kagome grabs her clothes and begins to leave. InuYasha questions where she's going and Kagome turns to tell him that she's going home. InuYasha stops her, asking for the jewel fragment. Instead of giving it to him, she tells him to sit, before leaving again, telling him that she'll be keeping it.

Back in the village, the woman leads Kaede toward her daughter who was fine earlier that morning. Noting the strange aura around her daughter, Kaede tells the woman to get back. Suddenly, the laying girl is up, floating in midair. Looking closer, Kaede notices that hair is being used to give the allusion she's floating. A knife is suddenly placed in the girl's hands by the hair and the girl goes toward Kaede, slicing at her with the knife.

Kagome finally makes it back to the well. She hopes that she can make her way back to her era through it, but when she peers into it, she sees the bones of the centipede demon. Being too scared to go in, Kagome kneels at the well. Birds flying overhead suddenly fall after being sliced. Kagome looks at the birds, which have fallen near her, wondering what could have caused it. She's suddenly sliced by something and when she looks up, she sees that she's caught in a web of hair. A voice is announces her surprise that Kagome can see her hair. Looking up even furthur, Kagome sees a demon standing atop one of the hairs. Hair is laced all around her fingers, as if she's controlling a puppet. The demon announces that the hair web Kagome sees is her cage of hair, but just because Kagome can see it won't help her. Kagome asks for her name, and the demon complies, telling her that her name is Yura. With a quick flick of her arm, the hair swipes the jewel fragment from around Kagome's neck and into Yura's hand. Kagome grabs a handful of hair, trying to get it back, but instead Yura lunges toward Kagome with a sword. Forgetting that she was against the well, Kagome leans back and falls in. Thinking that Kagome is still there, Yura lunges the sword inside it but then quickly retrieves it with her hair. Confused, Yura peers down the well and sees that Kagome is no longer there. She wonders what Kagome is.

Moving toward the village, Kagome's words haunt InuYasha. Just as he's telling himself that he feels better when she isn't around, a horde of village girls with weapons lunge at him. Making them fall, InuYasha realizes that all of them are from the village. Kaede screams that he shouldn't injure any of them from the ground. InuYasha goes to her, wondering why she's covered in blood. Kaede explains that the girls are being manipulated by someone else. She tells him that he has to work with Kagome, but he insists that he'll be able to beat them single handedly again. Kaede is doubtful.

Sitting on a tree, Yura says the next time she sees Kagome, she'll take her head off.
